What makes a great local pub ?

A great local pub is a place where people can go to relax, enjoy a drink, and socialise with their friends and neighbours. The things that we think of are, a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, a good selection of drinks, and a comfortable space to sit and socialise.

Plus, a great local often has a unique atmosphere and character that sets it apart from other bars and pubs in the area. It should be a place where people feel at home and can escape from the stresses of everyday life.

Why everyone needs a 'Local'

Let's all try and support the local economy by providing business for local businesses and stimulating economic growth in the area. Provide an atmosphere and character that cant be found in larger chain bars or pubs.

To socialise with friends and meet new people, creating a sense of community. To enjoy a good selection of drinks and comfortable space to sit and relax.

We love the fact that the staff want to come here and bring their friends with them. Young or more mature in years - it makes no difference, we all get along just nicely

The Romilly is 'Your Local' come and say Hi

The Romilly has been a pub at the heart of Canton / Pontcanna for the last 150 years or so. The rear beer garden was the place where Baron Romilly used to keep his horses over night - where he allegedly used to like a pint or 2 after a hard days toil. Things have changed a lot since those days - but the ethos of a family friendly, dog friendly 'local' where everyone is welcome is is still the same.

So dont be stranger - next time you're passing call in. Arrange to meet up with a few friends and enjoy a good old catch up, sing along, pub quiz , Sunday roast or maybe just meet up for a coffee in the afternoon.
